SCHOOLS RECEIVE $20,000 GRANT
Funds will implement mathematics intervention model
The Knox County Schools has been awarded a grant in the amount of $20,000 from the AT&T Foundation, the philanthropy arm of AT&T, to help implement a mathematics intervention model for students at Fulton High School and Whittle Springs Middle School who may be struggling with math proficiency. Congressman Duncan visits his Alma Mater
Congressman John J. "Jimmy" Duncan, Jr. returned to his high school Alma Mater Friday, November 20, for a visit to learn more about the programs being implemented there and across Knox County Schools. Duncan met with Holston Principal Tom Brown, Board Member Sam Anderson, and Director of High Needs Schools Montina Jones. (More, Pictures)

KCS Art Educators receive State awards
Four Knox County Schools Art educators and the department administrative assistant were recognized at the Tennessee Art Education Association Fall Conference in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. These awards honor outstanding Art educators from our state whose dedication to Art education merits recognition and acclaim. (More Story, Photos)
THANKSGIVING HOLIDAYS, WINTER BREAK SCHEDULE
Knox County Schools, including the Central Office and Maintenance, will be closed Wednesday, November 25, through Friday, November 27 for the Thanksgiving Holidays. Winter break for teachers and students begins December 21. Students return to school January 5. Teachers return January 4.

The Superintendent of Knox County Schools will conduct four public forums during the 2009-2010 school year to hear and discuss community, parent and student comments and insights about the Knox County Schools. All sessions will begin at 6:00 p.m. and are open to residents across Knox County.
